PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, JOHN COLLINS MINISTRIES DAILY THOUGHTS: FAKERS ON THE PULPIT

Pastor John Collins calls a spade a spade

Prosperity doctrine.  Rich churches. Fake healing.  Name it claim it. New Ageism.

The imposters who preach the doctrine that did not come from God are undermining the Gospel, God and Jesus Christ.  The Holy Bible tells Christians that we are supposed to call those people out and show them for the imposters that they are.  Pastor John Collins of John Collins Ministries and Love That Cross Ministries has no problem calling it as it really is without any hesitation at all.

The Holy Bible stands as our book of guidance to use as our standards, the Gospel that teaches us about the commandments, our forgiveness, and our salvation.  It is not a platform to reword, rewrite and use for the benefit of those who conform to the beliefs that liberal society promotes.  Rewriting the Gospel leads down a road of deception and destruction.

“I am offended when Christians are too afraid to stand in that truth. The Apostles were not afraid to call people out by name and Jesus gave the perfect example of speaking boldly for the truth of God and not allowing the opinions and feelings of others to get in the way. All of the prophets that God sent to Israel spoke the truth about the hypocrisy of the people. We have become soft. We have grown weak in our faith and have succumbed to the disease of political correctness.” Pastor John Collins, April 2018.

It is time for Christians to strengthen their faith and take a stand and call the imposters what they are.  God and Jesus Christ have been kicked out of school, government, family and churches, and it time for us to turn to God, to turn back to God so that our nation can be healed.  It is time for a change says Pastor John Collins.

Pastor John Collins writes:

“And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!” Matthew 10:14-15 (NKJV).

There are people in this world that are willing to tell the truth about the condition of others in this world. Some are willing to call a spade a spade with no shame and with confidence in the strength and power of the word of God. Jesus didn’t hesitate to call evil what it is, evil. Jesus didn’t hesitate to call the blind leaders blind. Jesus didn’t hesitate to say that many showed up for the food for their bellies and not their souls. God gave us discernment for a reason.

There are many people in this world that have so-called positions of authority or platforms that they use to undermine God, to undermine the gospel and to spit in the face of Jesus. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing and it is necessary to be able to see them for the imposters that they are.

When a person is actively behaving against God and someone calls them on it then do not say to them, ‘you don’t know their heart, only God can know their heart.’ People want to get so offended at supposed judgment from Christians who know the truth. I am offended when Christians are too afraid to stand in that truth. We have grown weak in our faith and have succumbed to the disease of political correctness.

Oprah and all of her soul Sunday guests that conform to new ageism, Osteen, Meyer, Hinn, White, Jakes, Dollar and all of the prosperity preachers, all Universalists that believe that there are many paths to God and so many others are leading people astray and down the broad road to destruction.

We have been given the Holy Bible so that we may come to know God, know His Commandments and know Jesus died for our sins so that we may receive forgiveness and salvation. We are meant to use this knowledge that is held in the word of God so that we can see clearly when those around us are not of God but of this world. We are meant to protect our faith and become strong by standing with God against this evil world. It does not mean that we resort to violence or abusive name-calling but we can rebuke and make known the offenses of others. We must be willing to uphold our beliefs and not shame others for being honest about the lost and deceived. To say nothing is to approve of the deception. Be willing to hold firm to your beliefs and be willing to speak boldly the truth of God.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 (NKJV)

LOVE THAT CROSS PASTOR JOHN COLLINS

Doing the will of God means that we need to actually read a good version of the Bible, not the retranslated and transliterations that are manipulated to serve a specific church or doctrine. Pastor John Collins recommends  reading  KJV or NKJV or NIV edition of the Holy Bible, to understand what God has in store for us through the salvation offered by the sacrifice of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.  Then after reading, learn to hear what God is telling us, and learn to become obedient.  As Pastor Collins puts it, the Bible does not tell us that God is a great genie in the sky, offering us everything we want if we give enough money to a church.  It tells us that we need to work out our salvation with fear of God, awe of God, to recognize that He is bigger than anything that this world has to offer either in wealth or in tribulations. That is what has been lost in the scramble for popularity and a full offering plate.

Preaching is not a popularity contest.  It is a battle to win souls for Jesus Christ and for God.  Pastor John Collins is a warrior in faith and fearlessly will stand on the Gospel and the words in the Holy Bible to bring people back to the foot of the Cross.  Pastor John Collins style of preaching is often loud, and it always reaches into your heart and makes you think, whether you like what he is saying or not.  Often Pastor John Collins will tell his listeners that he would rather offend someone and make them angry by telling them what they need to hear rather than padding the truth with what they want to hear.  There is a battle raging against the evil of this world.  Pastor John Collins is up in the front of the line, fighting for our eternal lives.  Pastor John Collins not only calls for revival of faith, Pastor John Collins calls for redemption of the Gospel, and Pastor John Collins is calling for change, now.

Pastor John Collins preaches from the heart.  His no nonsense style, as he says, “grabs you by the britches”, in old time revival-style preaching. Pastor John Collins is not going to preach and tell you what you want to hear, Pastor John Collins is going to preach and tell you what you need to hear to get yourself right with God, to find your way to the foot of the Cross, to seek the salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To Pastor John Collins, it is a matter of eternal life or eternal death, and the choice is ours to make.

Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. mountain time, Pastor John Collins can be heard on Heaven’s Country Radio at www.heavenscountry.com. Daily devotionals and thoughts by Pastor John Collins can be read on Facebook and Twitter.  Pastor John Collins brings an enthusiasm to the pulpit that is matched by no one.  “I get a little loud” says Pastor John Collins, and he gives a presentation of what the Bible represents: Pastor John Collins will “tell it, teach it as it was 2000 years ago.”  Pastor John Collins loves God.  As Pastor Collins puts it, the Bible is beautiful and everyone needs what it says.  Links to sermons, interviews, radio programs, articles, blogs, and Youtube recordings can be experienced by clicking on the links found within this blog.  Pastor John Collins can personally be reached for ministry, prayer, guest preaching and revival at jc65777@yahoo.com.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS LOVE THAT CROSS DAILY THOUGHTS: BEAUTIFULLY FLAWED

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS: HUMAN FAILURES

If you listen to pastors that are on the pulpit in the public eye, these men and women would have you believe that God is an all loving God who is there to simply answer prayers in return for your belief, that you don’t need to change yourself, that once you’re saved, you’re always saved.  They don’t teach to look to the Bible for the examples that God gives” preaches Pastor John Collins of John Collins Ministries and Love That Cross Ministries.  The Holy Bible is full of examples of liars, cheaters, doubters, bribery, theft, and simple human failure.  We are HUMAN, and the Bible tells of HUMANS who went through the very same things we face now, only thousands of years ago.  As Solomon said in Ecclesiastes, there is nothing new under the sun.

“There is a beauty in knowing the failures of those that have been faithful to God. You are not expected to be perfect from the start, but are meant to work toward perfection as you seek righteousness through Jesus. Humans are flawed and weak. Humans need to learn to seek the good and refuse the bad. In order to do that, you must learn what sin is, how to react to it and how to avoid it, but you must also learn how to acknowledge it in yourself so that you can seek to be convicted in your soul and choose to repent and change and grow in faith and obedience to God. A child does not learn to do anything without trial and error, failure and correction.” Pastor John Collins, April, 2018.

We are not meant to sweep sin under the rug.  Sin is not to be sugar coated or justified.  Sin is meant to be talked about in the pulpit, because as Paul put it, the wages of sin is death….hell. Pastor John Collins calls out those pastors (as the apostle Paul says to do in 2 Timothy) who deny Hell, who refuse to preach the truth, who refuse to teach that while God is Love, He is also Wrath, and He wants us to learn to not sin. We are meant to acknowledge it, repent-meaning change our ways from it-and seek forgiveness Pastor John Collins goes on to say.  When we fully turn to God and His Son Jesus Christ, They begin the process of teaching and refining us, placing tests and trials in front of us.  Our free will is what will likely get in our way as we stumble through in our efforts of trial and error.  God will teach us, Jesus will help us on our way, and the outcome is a soul that God and Jesus will want in heaven.  God will correct us.  God will challenge us. As Pastor John Collins says “never blame God. He puts us through it to see us through it.”  That is there in the Holy Bible, from the Psalms of David and the reflections of Solomon in Ecclesiastes, to the books of Peter.  The individuals who were recorded in the Bible are flawed, just like we are.  They struggled, just like we do. The voice of God and the words of Jesus are there to guide through the “it” that we face as we learn to walk the talk of being Christian.

Pastor John Collins writes:

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,  Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11-12 (NKJV).

Abraham lied about Sarah being his wife, Isaac did the same thing, Jacob stole Esau’s blessing although Esau sold his birthright, the brothers of Joseph intended to kill him but ended up faking his death and selling him into slavery, Moses struck the rock, Aaron bungled waiting for Moses and jumped into idolatry followed by lying, David orchestrated murder after committing adultery and Solomon stumbled with women and idolatry, Peter denied Christ and Thomas doubted. The bible is not shy about including the faults, weaknesses and sins of the men that were instrumental in creating the story of Israel, of God and His plan for salvation for us through His Son. The flaws of humanity are not meant to be whitewashed and swept under the rug. We are not meant to lie about sin, but are meant to acknowledge it, repent of it and seek forgiveness for it.

There is a beauty in knowing the failures of those that have been faithful to God. A child does not learn to do anything without trial and error, failure and correction.

You will stumble in this life and you will fail. You will also grow in strength and learn to avoid the pitfalls and navigate the path of the righteous. It is your effort that God wants and believe me, He knows who is making the effort. Never think that you are unforgiveable, unlovable or undesirable by God. God wants you to choose Him, seek Him and stop making excuses. Although He does expect you to falter, He also expects you to learn. Begin by getting to know His word, His laws and become submissive to His will. Do not avoid God because you think yourself not worthy, but do not take His grace for granted either. Be encouraged by the examples found in the bible and be willing to humble yourself before the Lord and welcome the correction that comes from His hand.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV).

LOVE THAT CROSS PASTOR JOHN COLLINS

Pastor John Collins is leading a revival across the United States that has been gathering more momentum in the past few months.  From Heaven’s Country Radio at 10 a.m. Mountain Time on Sundays with Marty Smith, to AM and FM stations across the nation, even reaching North Korea Uruguay, Paraguay, Russia, Tunisia, and around the world Pastor John Collins is spreading the word of God and redeeming the Gospel.  New television channels, films, interviews and more are on the horizon from Pastor John Collins and John Collins Ministries. The word of God and the Christian faith has been twisted over the lifetime of mankind.  Pastor John Collins is here to bring God back to everyone, in truth.  Pastor John Collins will not preach what you want to hear, Pastor John Collins will preach and teach what you need to hear.

Pastor John Collins is down to earth and he will be the first to tell you he did not begin life with the goal of becoming a preacher.   He wanted money and everything that came with it.  God found Pastor John Collins, not the other way around.  Pastor John Collins so frequently says he was “so far from the Cross, I needed binoculars to see it.  Now I get splinters in my hands from it!”  This world needs hope, and that is what God is giving everyone, a chance at hope, because the guy in the trailer is the same as the guy in the mansion in God’s eyes, and it is time for someone to lead a change, a revival.  Pastor John says “It’s time to do it right, to not be ‘another one of them’”, referring to those who use the pulpit for their personal gain and recognition. Pastor Collins forthrightly says it is time to use the pulpit to bring God to the people, and the people to the Cross and the salvation that is offered by the sacrifice of Jesus. Pastor John Collins and John Collins Ministries is here to help, to give a hand up, not a hand out.

You can read posts on Twitter and Facebook from Pastor John Collins, other blogs, interviews and recordings linked within this blog.  Pastor John Collins is also available for revival, preaching, and guest speaking and he can be reached through his email at jc65777@yahoo.com.

Pastor John Collins, Daily Thoughts: "End of Days"

Pastor John Collins: Begging for rapture?

Are you a fence sitter when it comes to declaring your faith?  Do you hedge your bets, believing in a part of this faith, a bit of that doctrine, a little of that religion?  All in.  That is what God wants from us and Pastor John Collins of Love That Cross Ministries and Pastor John Collins Ministries tells us.  All in, all of us, not part of our faith, part of our heart, part of our souls.   All our heart, soul, mind and strength.  That is the first and greatest commandment, it’s part of the Hebrew Shema, and what Jesus Christ taught when He walked the earth as a person 2000 plus years ago.  Pastor John Collins is determined to bring as many who will come back to the Cross.

End times prophecies have been talked about since they were first spoken millennia ago.  The first disciples expected them to happen any day, but they were wrong just as the “prophets” of today are.  No one knows said Jesus Christ, and Pastor John Collins preaches the very same thing.  God wants as many as who will to come home to Him, His children, His creations, His souls that belong to Him.  Right now, God isn’t happy with us and He most certainly isn’t blessing the United States because we have kicked Him out of schools, out of the courts, out of families, out of our hearts and out of churches points out Pastor John Collins.  God isn’t happy, but He hasn’t pulled the proverbial plug….yet.

How selfish are those who beg for the day of rapture?  Don’t you think that God is holding back so that people can actually be taught to know Him and to know Jesus, to give as many people as possible the chance at salvation first, asks Pastor John Collins?

“We need to take our faith and salvation seriously. We need to get this right for ourselves and each other. We cannot be half committed, somewhat devoted or undecided when it comes to being a follower of Christ. We need to give all, believe whole-heartedly and commit completely to living a life that is in obedience to Jesus and in submission to God. That is what ensures our eternal salvation with the reward of entry through heaven’s gates.”  Pastor John Collins, April 2018.

It’s time to take faith seriously.  It’s time to step back, look at ourselves and our hearts and seek the hope that is Jesus Christ (Pastor John Collins, paraphrased).

Pastor John Collins writes:

“And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:10-14 (NKJV).

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32 (NKJV).

Many are saying that we are nearing the end of times, that Jesus will return soon, that the rapture is near and tribulation is upon us. Jesus said that only the Father knows the time so it is impossible for anyone to know when the end will come. Yet, with so many preachers teaching this and so many eyes open to the happenings in the Middle East and so much attention being drawn to prophecy and supposition, why are people not taking their faith more seriously? Why is there not more people repenting and coming to the foot of the cross?

When prophets were sent to Israel and Judah, they were not always heard. The sad truth is the majority of the people clung to their ways, their sin and their attachment to this world. Too many perished because of their stubbornness and refusal to submit to God. Every day that God holds back the judgment of this world is a day of mercy to us all. Each of those days is an opportunity to shout from the rooftops that salvation is available to the lost. Each day is filled with the hope that we will come to our senses and get right with God.

We need to take our faith and salvation seriously. We need to stop procrastinating and stop putting off changing our lives and our ways. We need to get this right for ourselves and each other. We cannot be half committed, somewhat devoted or undecided when it comes to being a follower of Christ. We need to give all, believe whole-heartedly and commit completely to living a life that is in obedience to Jesus and in submission to God. That is what ensures our eternal salvation with the reward of entry through heaven’s gates.

We all can do better, be better and become more Christ-like. Each of us needs to be willing to alter our lives and purify our hearts. It is not enough to say, “I am a work in progress.” We all need to take the steps to rid our lives of sinful influence and to resist our temptations. We need to get honest with ourselves about what we hide from the world, about what we don’t admit and about what needs to change. Jesus is your strength and He wants you to belong to Him. Do not deny yourself forever in heaven because you were unsure or lazy in your faith. Even if you have doubts, call on Jesus in truth and I know that those doubts will fade and the truth along with the hope of salvation will bloom in your heart.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I have overcome and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelations 3:20-21 (NKJV).

LOVE THAT CROSS, PASTOR JOHN COLLINS

Pastor John Collins tells us we all can do better.  We need to go to church and “get some”….Jesus was crucified so we could be justified, and we need to get on our knees and repent, every day.  Pastor John Collins is the first to say that he knows he is a sinner, and that he will get on his knees, ask for forgiveness every day.  At the end of the day, Pastor John Collins says he gets on his knees and asks God “did I handle every situation today correctly to glorify You?”  Each day is an opportunity to get it right, to get better.

Salvation is by faith alone in Jesus Christ, preaches Pastor John Collins.  It is the effort to turn away from sin, to not be like the world, to seek guidance from Jesus in everything that we do – Pastor John Collins, Spring, 2018.

Pastor John Collins has been recognized as an inspirational pastor living in the United States and has received awards as Evangelist of the Year from across the globe.  Interviews, radio programming, sermons, blogs, news articles, and Youtube recordings of Pastor John Collins can be accessed by clicking on the links found within this post.  Pastor John Collins posts daily thoughts and devotions on Facebook and Twitter.  Pastor John Collins preaches weekly from the heart on Heaven’s Country Radio, www.heavenscountry.com at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time.  Pastor John Collins preaches with passion:  Pastor John Collins is not about a popularity contest, Pastor Collins says he would rather have people hate him for what he says rather than to be loved and tell people what they want to hear.  This is not about the pastor, it is about Jesus Christ and our chance at salvation and getting back to God.  Pastor John Collins can be reached by email at jc65777@yahoo.com for ministry, prayer and positive conversation.  Pastor John Collins is also available for revival and guest speaking.

Pastor John Collins says it is time for a change, he is in it to win it for God.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, LOVE THAT CROSS DAILY THOUGHTS: DIVIDED CHURCH

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS DAILY THOUGHT: A HOUSE DIVIDED

We look around at our country and we see division.  A teen shot in Pittsburgh by a police officer sets the community off into a spin.  A shooter in Annapolis Maryland puts us into an all too familiar routine of terrorism through victimization.  We fight against each other.  Know what?  We as people fight against each other in church and beliefs too, observes Pastor John Collins of Love That Cross and John Collins Ministries.

“Throughout the last 2000 years or so there have been many separations within the body of Christ because of dissension among its members. This has led to different denominations and beliefs with different dogmas within Christianity. This is not how it should be.” Pastor John Collins, April 2018.

Believing in Jesus is simple.  There is no call for separation or arguing that this group is better within another group, which is exactly what happened at the beginning of Christianity, and it is no different today.  Pastor John Collins is a non-denominational evangelist and is spreading revival and preaching to redeem the Gospel.  Pastor John Collins has no problem challenging those who interpret the Bible for their own purposes.

Pastor John Collins writes:

“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.  I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?” 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 (NKJV).

Paul addressed the divisions that sprung up among the believers in Corinth. This is not a new problem. With the followers of Christ came the problems of men. There were divisions of opinions and importance which has been a constant in the church and is not any different today. There were councils created to resolve the issues that came about from the differences of interpreting the scriptures and beliefs of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Throughout the last 2000 years or so there have been many separations within the body of Christ because of dissension among its members. This has led to different denominations and beliefs with different dogmas within Christianity. This is not how it should be. There is a simplicity to believing in Jesus and coming to the foot of the Cross. There is an availability to Jesus that is freely given to the believer and that is to the individual as well as to the group. You do not need to belong to a specific denomination or church affiliation in order to claim salvation.

The early days of Christianity came with power grabs and status snatching from the different church locations within each region. This was so that those who ran those churches would be given authority and all that comes with a position of loftiness within the hierarchy. It is no different today. There are churches that claim that their denomination has superior authority and superior authenticity. There are denominations that believe that their way has greater approval from God and Jesus. That is ridiculous. God is seeking those who love Him in spirit and truth, period. The Holy Bible is the word of God and is not complicated to understand. Most don’t bother to read it thoroughly enough to be able to apply it to their lives though. Most go to whatever church has become part of their routine and belief system and stay there.

Jesus wants us to obey God and to obey Him. We are meant to keep it simple and to be submissive to the will of God in our lives. How often do you notice Christians arguing amongst themselves about their beliefs? How often do you see the differences between those beliefs cause resentment and bitterness? All Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Why are things complicated? What is so difficult about being of one mind? The reason that there are different denominations is because man wanted greater authority and power for themselves so they created a separate group within the group to attain that power. There should never be separation within the body of Christ. There should never be a demand to follow the dogma of man. We should follow the commands of Christ.

Keep it simple and know that Jesus just wants you to get it right. That means to seek righteousness. Seek to purify your heart and mind and to always seek God first in all that you do. Continue to pray diligently and learn to ask for those things that are approved of by God and not selfish desires of your heart. Be loyal in your faith and Jesus will be loyal to you.

“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.  According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:9-11 (NKJV).

Love That Cross, Pastor John Collins

Christianity is not meant to be divided, to be separated from each other, to be one better than another.  We are supposed to be united, not the separation seen with the liberal society in which we live.  The church was meant to be a simple faith in God and in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Pastor John Collins reminds us to get back to the simple foundation of the man who died for our sins after taking a bloody beating and hung on a cross for our sins-Jesus Christ, Son of God.

Pastor John Collins is calling for change.  The time is now, and change is needed to bring ourselves back to God and what Jesus Christ preached and taught over 2000 years ago.  Pastor John Collins is a dynamic, no nonsense revival style preacher who tells it like it is.  Pastor John Collins preaches with a passion and love for God rarely seen today in churches across the United States.  Pastor John Collins has said and continues to say “we messed this up one church at a time, one person at a time”.  We need to come back to God, now, one church at a time, one person at a time, and Pastor John Collins is bringing that message to those who will listen.

Speaking from the heart, Pastor John Collins can be heard Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. mountain time on Heaven’s Country Radio at www.heavenscountry.com. Links to sermons, interviews, radio programs, articles, blogs, and Youtube recordings can be experienced by clicking on the backlinks found within this blog.  Pastor John Collins can personally be reached for ministry, prayer, guest preaching and revival at jc65777@yahoo.com.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, LOVE THAT CROSS DAILY THOUGHTS: SOCIAL MEDIA

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, LOVE THAT CROSS DAILY THOUGHTS:  Social Media

Years after Reverend David Wilkerson preached that the Internet was a distraction and a means to separate families, that television was becoming too violent for children to watch unsupervised, Pastor John Collins, of Love That Cross Ministries and John Collins Ministries, emphasizes that social media has become a means for separating families, promoting violence and bullying, and creating secrets.  The violence in Santa Fe Texas earlier this year is a symptom of the violence that children (yes teenagers are still not adults, and therefore our children), are exposed to.  The statistics now show that there are more children killed in school shootings than soldiers in combat zones in 2018, says Pastor John Collins.  The shooting in Annapolis, Maryland had the shooter’s history involved with a Twitter account. So far in 2018, there has been 199 mass shootings in the USA. When is it enough?

Pastor John Collins, evangelist, cautions that social media has been given too much control over our lives.  The amount of time that children spend on social media is detrimental to their development and to their socialization.  It separates us from our friends and our families, and children are being exposed to too much, too early.  Children are not being allowed to be children, are not being given the opportunity to grow through play, and adults are not taking the responsibility of teaching them about the Bible, God and Jesus.

Pastor John Collins cautions that social media content is provocative, negative, promotes vanity, and the medium itself takes away from the personal interactions that create relationships.  Look around the family room, if anyone is there as a family, and you will see that if someone speaks, others are engrossed in whatever is happening on a screen.  Multitasking is not the way to develop relationships.
“As convenient as the Internet is, it is necessary to remember the danger of it as well. Children need to be children, have fun and play with other children. Kids should be educated about God and Jesus Christ and should be kept close and safe and surrounded by love. Be aware of what your children are doing and be aware of the example that you are setting.” ~ Pastor John Collins

Pastor John Collins writes:

“Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.” 2 John 1:12 (NKJV).

“Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.” 3 John 1:11 (NKJV).

Communication has changed with the invention of technology that supports the World Wide Web with a push of a button. People all over the world use their phones and computers to express themselves on their social media and even our advertising has changed to accommodate your preferences all determined by your browsing history. There are apps for this and apps for that. Photos and videos are uploaded by the millions each day. Over 40 billion photos and videos have been shared on Instagram since its inception. And for all of the viewing capabilities and communicating capabilities that we have there is a breakdown in basic relationships that should sadden each and every one of us. Families aren’t talking at the dinner table, children are keeping secrets from their parents and parents are living secret lives that are created via the Internet. Gossip has exploded and bullies have new platforms and the levels of violence have escalated. Crime has increased with trafficking of victims, drugs and arms.

Betrayal comes cheap and easy for too many. Social media has created the ruination of many people and has even been the impetus for the suicide of many. We have become too obsessed with the Internet and given it too much power over us.

Photographs were not invented until 1826 and the first photo uploaded to the web was in 1992. Now, kids are obsessed with selfies and videos and that is truly a problem in our society. It just makes people more aware of their looks and it creates an obsession with vanity that is anti-biblical. Children are bombarded with technology here in America and in many countries around the world. The need to feed the social frenzy is all consuming and destructive. It is too easy to get bullied by others for looks, for weight, for clothes and for any other nonsense that seems relevant for the day. Too many pictures are too provocative and children seem to be wearing less and less as their ages creep up year by year. People are devoted to their appearances and to chronicle their lives through social media. It is ridiculous and it takes away from genuine interaction and genuinely valuable relationships that should be built.

Children learn from watching their parents and they are also guided by their parents. What happens when the parents are also consumed with social media, taking photos of themselves and their lives and uploading every moment onto the web? Technology has become a weakness for people and it has become a doorway to sin. The Internet has brought sin directly into our homes and our hands and we just can’t seem to put it down. It is not only the picture and video taking, the constant commenting and obsessive watching of others and what they do and say but it is not bringing out the best in people and it is not increasing the quality of relationships with people. As convenient as the Internet is, it is necessary to remember the danger of it as well. Children need to be children, have fun and play with other children. Kids should be educated about God and Jesus Christ and should be kept close and safe and surrounded by love. Be aware of what your children are doing and be aware of the example that you are setting. Children grow up too fast as it is and we need to be proactive by preparing them to know the difference between good and evil and to teach them to choose the good. We need to protect them and protect ourselves by creating a wholesome and loving home that is safe from the outside world and influences and acknowledge the superficiality of all that can be found in the pictures, videos and words that are uploaded by the millions each and every day. Get grounded in the truth of God and hold on to that.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV).

LOVE THAT CROSS, PASTOR JOHN COLLINS

Sundays at 10:00 a.m. mountain time, Pastor John Collins can be heard on Heaven’s Country Radio at www.heavenscountry.com.

Pastor John Collins is in it to win it for God!  Change is coming.
