This daily devotional is from a recent post on  Pastor John Collins' Facebook.  This post is a gentle reminder that we have a responsibility to our children to teach them what Easter is about, not just the commercialism of chocolate and Easter eggs.  We all struggle in this world, and our perseverance and reliance upon God and Jesus is what helps us get through those struggles. It's our trust as Christians in God and His Son that will give us strength to get through this life. It's up to us to teach and guide our children to heaven.  Enjoy Pastor John's devotional. Happy Resurrection Day.

Happy Easter to all of you! As we gather today to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ we should have grateful hearts that are full of love. Many of us today will be getting together with family and will entertain the little ones and share joy in watching them. As you gaze upon those precious children today, I want you to think of their heavenly futures and know that it is your responsibility as parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and loved ones to guide their precious souls toward knowledge and truth in Jesus Christ.

Let us not forget our foundation of faith and remember to pass that on. Our belief and hope is to be shared with our families as we know that family is important to God. We are meant to come together and be able to speak of the gospel and Christ and to rejoice in the hope that He provides.

Every holiday has become commercialized in so many ways that we need to avoid getting caught up in it all. Let us have gracious attitudes and welcoming homes and hearts today. And be encouraged and encouraging to others to not let this be just one of the days of the year that you celebrate Jesus.

Our Lord and Savior loves you and wants you to acknowledge Him in your hearts, homes, prayers and lives. Be open to His love and be ready to serve Him with loyalty and devotion and be prepared to receive peace and blessings.

This daily devotional from Pastor John Collins' Facebook page is a recent post.  As in all his others, his style of preaching, even through written works, will reach into your heart and allow you to look at yourself objectively.  We all struggle in this world, and our perseverance and reliance upon God and Jesus is what helps us get through those struggles.  It hasn't changed since Paul wrote the scripture noted below. The goal of our life here on earth is to get back home, to heaven.  It's our trust as Christians in God and His Son that will give us strength to get through this life. Enjoy Pastor John's devotional.

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS: Their strength is your strength.

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:3-5

Sometimes life just beats you up and sometimes your faith is tested more than you think that you can bear. It is important to begin and maintain that relationship with Jesus so that you can be sure that all of your struggles in life will produce the results that you seek. You should be seeking first and always to obey the Lord and get to heaven and your entire life should produce godly fruit that is evident of your conviction.

When you are not striving to do the will of God and you are living your life doing your own will and pursuing your own desires then you can be sure that any pitfalls that you fall into are not about testing your faith but are about providing opportunities for you to begin to pursue your faith. If you are a person who devotes each day to becoming more Christ-like then you can be sure that all of your struggles are not in vain but are a product of your learning to trust in God and also learning what is approved of by God while strengthening your character and preparing you for heaven. Only the pure and the approved get to go to heaven and just believing in Jesus does not mean you will be welcomed into Paradise. Remember that even the demons believe.

Perseverance is a challenge for everyone. It is not easy to feel burdened and tormented in life and it is not easy to deal with all that may happen that produces loss and hurt and scars. The beauty of submitting to the will of God and in obeying the Lord and in calling upon Jesus is that you know that when your faith is genuine, their strength is your strength and their hope for you is complete and they won’t let go. God really does want you to make it home to Him and Jesus really did die for you so that you could go there.

Life is difficult and times are tough and it is nothing new. Give your life to Jesus and commit to being loyal and obedient in your faith and know that no matter what you go through in this journey He will be there for you. Trust that you do have what it takes to persevere and it is worth it to try and try and try. Hold on to the hope that the Lord has given because He does love you.

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12

Pastor John posted this devotional on his Facebook page in October, 2015. Paul was chosen as an apostle after the resurrection of Jesus, and God was glorified in him by Paul's actions.  He once terrorized early Christians, but once he encountered Jesus, he changed his life, and it reflected the work of God.  Do you glorify God in your life?

“And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea which were in Christ. But they were hearing only, ‘He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.’ And they glorified God in me.” Galatians 1:22-24

What does it mean to have God glorified in you? It is when your behavior and your character reflect the work of God and is noticeable by men. When you come to be a Christian by choice, not by upbringing as something that you do, but by your choice to believe that Jesus died for your sins and you’re committing your life to obedience to Him and service to God. That is really what it means to be a Christian as it is not when you believe in Jesus and as you commit sins you think to yourself that you know better, but you do what you want anyway, because to him that knows better and does it anyway, to him it is sin.

If you were once the thief who turned over a new leaf in the name of Jesus and you stick to it then people will glorify God in you. When you pick that moment to change your life and turn your back on the sin you once knew and you choose to walk with God then people will take notice and will give the glory to God.

Every Christian should recognize their blessings and want to give back to God by living a life that shows others the kindness and compassion of our Lord. Every Christian should not just think about their wallet when they think of giving to God but should think about their time and what they can do with it by lifting up others in the name of God and helping others come to the cross.

The power of God is unlimited and when you revere God, thank God and choose God: just imagine how His love can alter your life and help you to overcome what you must in order to claim heaven as your eternal home.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, LOVE THAT CROSS MINISTRIES: Choose life!

Pastor John posted this devotion on his Facebook page in the fall of 2015.  He tells us our salvation lies within the choices that we make.  Each choice has an impact upon how we will spend eternity.  It's up to us to determine where our eternity will be spent.

God judges us on those actions, and our actions alone are what determine where we will be spending the rest of our life, after this one is gone.  Decide what is important to you.

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

“The way of life winds upward for the wise, that he may turn away from hell below.” Proverbs 15:24

There is a process to growing up, claiming adulthood and proceeding to live your life. There are choices that you make and each one of those choices determines who you are and who you will become. Those that are aware of their eternal soul and want to go to heaven learn to make those choices by determining the good will of the Lord and choosing to do His will.

You may not think that it is any big deal to tell a lie, omit the truth or to be selfish in this one small matter. You may think nothing of passing up an opportunity to be kind and compassionate just this once. You may think that work is more important than that baseball game or that home cooked meal. You may think that you can make it up to them at another time. You may think that you deserve to let loose and finally have some fun so who will it hurt if you have that fling, you deserve it. You may think that there is plenty of time in the future for you to settle down and be boring and do what the Lord expects of you but He knows your motives and intentions and all of those things will be taken into account.

Each day you will make choices that will lead you toward righteousness or toward wickedness. Each day will determine your character and where your eternal resting place will be. Each little choice that you make adds up to the totality of your life. Choose Jesus and choose to live.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, LOVE THAT CROSS MINISTRIES: Which do you choose? Ego, entitlement, or salvation?

This post is about our egos and entitlement.  Do we think we are better than others, even when God blesses us? Do we deserve more?  Are we making ourselves a vessel of mercy, or are we a vessel of destruction?  If we wish to be a vessel of mercy, then we have work to do.  We need to come to the foot of that cross, in humbleness and repentance, seeking Jesus for forgiveness. The world isn't of God.  And this country is very far from Him.

https://inspirationalfaithmagazine.wordpress.com/2016/01/02/15-most-influential-pastors-living-today-2/

“What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much long suffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” Romans 9:22-24

What does the world owe you? What do your parents owe you? Does your wife or husband deserve you? Does your boss know how lucky they are to have you? Do your children realize how blessed they are to have you as a parent? Have you gotten your due? Does the world recognize your greatness, your beauty, your special something that makes it better? Doesn’t everyone around you acknowledge that even God has chosen you to bless so they should bow down to you as well??

Ah, entitlement, egos and arrogance is the fatal flaw is the human being because it leads to death although while it envelops you on earth it feels like life. Ah, that glorious sense that you are better than another, that you deserve to be recognized, that even God has lifted you up and made others aware of your importance is just a test to see if you will be gullible enough to think more of yourself than you ought to. God may seem to bless and choose and give so much to a person and really it is to see what that person will do with it. Will they believe that they deserve it, will they think that they earned it, will they believe that God wanted to reward them openly, will they think that they are more special than others?? Be careful of how highly you think of yourself because when an ego thinks that it is above, better than and deserving more than another is when that ego will find itself crushed whether in this life or in death because there will never be a place in heaven for a person filled with arrogance, entitlement and self-grandeur.

The very breath in your body is a gift and there are billions who take that gift for granted every day. This world has become a mess with children thinking that the world owes them, with parents never happy and feeling that they deserve more and more, with greedy companies and corrupt governments and with the things of God under attack and God Himself in the dock day by day, is it any wonder that the people on this planet are such a corrupt version of the beautiful beings that God created in the first place?

Kill your egos, people, humble yourselves before the cross of Christ and get right with God. Your own behavior both outwardly and inwardly will determine your outcome and whether or not you are a vessel of wrath or of mercy and you yourself choose that outcome within your own heart. God does give each person enough time to choose which path he or she will take so that in the end the fault lies within and not with Him.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
