“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” Hebrews 13:4.
There used to be a time when young girls were getting married really young, having children and that was it, just family life for them. There is so much in life that is available for women and men to do as careers, as fun and as family. There was a time when women resented being born and bred to be baby makers and wives. There came a resentment and a real turning away from marriage because of the limitations and the disappointment. There is a genuine responsibility of both the man and the woman to make a marriage work and that happens when you marry your best friend and a wonderful teammate that will see you through life as a true partner.
We can’t turn our back on marriage but we do need to open our eyes to quality of life for both husband and wife. We should not be teaching our children to despise marriage by our bitter experience with it. We should not be teaching our children that it is acceptable to sleep around to find the best fit either. Physical maturity does not equal emotional maturity and we need to teach our children to be patient and wait for their bodies, minds and hearts to be able to make good choices that will last them a lifetime when they choose their mates.
There was a time when the brides wore white to display their virginity but that is just not the case today and more often than not it is not even expected. Virginity is just not prized any longer in most places and with many people. God did not make it so that people are not compatible sexually. If you truly love a person then the sex will always work because you will work at making that so. It is that easy.
Children should be taught to respect themselves and their bodies enough to not engage in sexual activity with multiple people along the way to their marriage and marriage should be sought in life because it does bring you that husband or wife who is meant to enhance your life and be your helpmate. If marriage is not sought after and that is perfectly okay with some people there should not be pollution of the body in search for fulfillment of the body.
There needs to be a time when righteousness and wholesome goodness matters. That time is now. Do not be afraid to teach what you were not taught. If you truly know Jesus then you know that He wants you to become more Christ-like each day and that includes recognizing when your life and beliefs are not of the Lord’s and changing that and being committed to passing along better to your children than you had.
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” James 1:14-15 LOVE THAT CROSS, PASTOR JOHN
